Ellie has always been an adventurous and curious kitty cat, but she's also always been a mama's girl. Since the day I brought her home, I have been her human. It was to the point that any time I would visit my parents, we would set up her little box in my room and she'd sleep in my room every night. I noticed that she always slept on my back. It never made sense until I realized that I'm exclusively a stomach sleeper. She would sleep on my back to make sure I was still breathing. It's super sweet when you think about it. She wanted to make sure her person was okay because she couldn't see my chest rise and fall. To this day, her favorite sleeping spot is right between my shoulders.
One lesser-known story about Ellie outside of my family is when she went missing. About a week before I was supposed to move away for college, she went missing for five days. I was worried sick, and two nights before I was scheduled to move away, she came back. I had been looking and calling her name for days. One night, I was out calling her name, and she showed up. I cried like a baby. My pumpkin had come back. I took her in my arms and went into the house, yelling "Mom, look what I found!" My mom was sure she wouldn't come home. Honestly, I was in the same headspace. I thought I would never see her again, and there she was! Begging to be picked up and yelling at me for attention. I couldn't believe it. My cuddle bug had come home. She had this beautiful, long, elegant tail before she went missing. When she came back, it had a weird crook in it. Come to find out, she had broken her tail, and it needed to be amputated. I am still thankful the only thing she messed up was her tail. The picture below is how long her tail was before she went missing. You can see the difference in the following pics
When she was little, she let me hold her like a baby.
As she's gotten older though, that has changed. She no longer likes to be held like a baby. To hold her without her fighting you, she needs to have her front feet over the shoulder, and you have to hold her by her butt. Literally, how you would hold a toddler. If she doesn't want to be held but still wants cuddles, she will curl up on my titties, a habit she developed very young. These next photos are from my freshman year of college Christmas break, when I had only had her for about 6 months.
For a good portion of her young life, she loved my hair. I'm not sure why, but she loved curling up on and trying to eat my hair.
This picture was taken when I was laying on my parents' living room floor, she saw my hair, and decided that was going to be where she took a nap that day.
Some of my favorite Ellie stories include my parents' dog Brownie (she had to be put down in March 2020, RIP). As much as they both tried to act like they hated each other, they were lowkey besties. This is one of my fave pictures of the two of them
The following picture is courtesy of my ex-boyfriend, may he rot in hell. He had to babysit Ellie and Brownie when my family and I had to go to San Antonio for my freshman orientation.
It's a super cute picture, but it's tainted by the fact that it was taken by an abusive douchebag. It's still an adorable picture of Ellie and Brownie though. The next picture I took because the girls looked so cute hanging out together.
These two were absolutely partners in crime. I don't have a picture, but I do have stories. One morning I was driving Michael (my little brother) to school and my mom to work (we only had one car at the time, so I took it to school and would pick my mom up after work). My mom and I saw Brownie playing with a little baby bird (presumably that Ellie had knocked out of the nest), so we tried to show Michael. Before we could adequately get his attention, Brownie chomped the poor thing, ate it all in one bite. A few years later, my parents found half of a field rabbit. For anyone unaware, East Texas field rabbits get to the size of the average purse dog or a large cat. Little Ted Bundy (aka Ellie) had killed one. We figured out it was her because she was dragging around half of the corpse when my mom was trying to clean up the crime scene. To this day, I still wholeheartedly believe Brownie assisted in the murder of that rabbit.
